almonry
Where alms distributed
An almonry is a place where alms are distributed to the poor, typically a building or room attached to a monastery, abbey, or noble household.
The almoner—the official responsible for charitable giving—would dispense food, money, or other assistance from the almonry.
The term is largely historical, appearing in accounts of medieval religious institutions.
