unholy alliance

An unholy alliance is a partnership between parties who would not normally cooperate, often for questionable or self-serving purposes.

The phrase implies that the collaboration violates natural boundaries or moral expectations: an unholy alliance between corrupt politicians and organized crime, The two rivals formed an unholy alliance to defeat their common enemy.
