airscoop

Hood-mounted air intake

An airscoop is an opening or duct designed to capture air and direct it into an engine, carburetor, or cooling system.

Found on aircraft, cars, and motorcycles, airscoops use forward motion to force air inward: The hood airscoop fed cold air directly to the engine.
