air guitar
Rockstar fantasy prop
Air guitar is the pantomime of playing an electric guitar, typically performed during rock music—strumming an imaginary instrument, fingers moving on an imaginary fretboard.
It's associated with enthusiasm that overcomes self-consciousness: He couldn't help playing air guitar during the solo.
Air guitar competitions formalize this into judged performance art.
