afterpart

Ship's back end

The afterpart is the rear section of a ship or aircraft, toward the stern or tail.

The term appears mainly in nautical and aviation contexts: The cargo was stowed in the afterpart of the vessel.

In older usage, afterpart could mean the latter portion of any period or event: the afterpart of the day.
