BET theory

Surface area calculation

BET theory is a model in physical chemistry that describes how gas molecules adsorb onto solid surfaces in multiple layers.

Named for Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller, who developed it in 1938, the theory extends earlier single-layer models to explain multilayer adsorption.

It's widely used to measure surface area of porous materials like catalysts and activated carbon: We used BET analysis to determine the surface area of the powder.
