actinide
Radioactive metallic element
Actinide refers to any of fifteen metallic elements with atomic numbers 89 through 103, from actinium through lawrencium.
These elements form the bottom row of the periodic table and share similar chemical properties.
The best-known actinides are uranium and plutonium, used in nuclear reactors and weapons.
Most actinides are radioactive and do not occur naturally.
