Yeezus
Hip-hop messianic persona
Yeezus is the sixth studio album by rapper Kanye West, released in 2013, and a portmanteau blending his nickname "Yeezy" with "Jesus." The title reflects West's controversial self-comparisons to religious figures and his provocative artistic persona.
The album's abrasive, minimalist production marked a deliberate departure from mainstream hip-hop sounds.
Beyond the album, Yeezus sometimes appears as an ironic or reverent nickname for West himself among fans.
