Webb telescope

Infrared space observer

The Webb telescope, formally the James Webb Space Telescope, is a space-based infrared observatory launched in 2021.

Named after a NASA administrator, it orbits far beyond Earth to capture images of distant galaxies, star formation, and exoplanet atmospheres with unprecedented clarity: The Webb telescope detected water vapor on a distant planet.

Often shortened to Webb or JWST.
