Watchmen
Those who observe
Watchmen is a landmark 1986 graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons that deconstructed the superhero genre by depicting costumed vigilantes as psychologically damaged, morally compromised figures.
The title references the Latin phrase "who watches the watchmen?" The work spawned a 2009 film and 2019 HBO series. (Lowercase watchmen are guards.)
