USFL
Alternative gridiron league
USFL stands for United States Football League, a professional American football league that has existed in two incarnations.
The original USFL operated from 1983 to 1985 as a spring league, featuring future NFL stars before folding after an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL.
A revived USFL launched in 2022, again playing spring football as an alternative to the NFL's fall schedule.
The USFL gave some players a second chance at professional football.
