Tupperware parties
Home sales socials
Tupperware parties are social gatherings, typically in someone's home, where a salesperson demonstrates and sells plastic food storage containers to invited guests.
The format—part sales pitch, part socializing—became a model for direct selling of cosmetics, kitchenware, and other products: My aunt hosted Tupperware parties in the seventies.
The term now applies broadly to any home-based sales event using this format.
