Seurat

Parisian dot master

Georges Seurat was a French painter (1859–1891) who developed pointillism, a technique of applying small dots of pure color that blend optically when viewed from a distance.

His most famous work, *A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte*, exemplifies this painstaking method.

Seurat's name is sometimes invoked for any dotted or pixelated visual effect: The photo was so low-resolution it looked like a Seurat.
