Tecate

Mexican border lager

Tecate is a Mexican beer brand, typically sold in cans with a distinctive red and gold label.

It originated in the border city of the same name in Baja California.

The beer is a light lager often served with lime and salt: We grabbed some Tecates at the corner store.

Tecate also refers to the small city on the U.S.-Mexico border, a crossing point between California and Baja California.
