Talbot

Historic hunting dog

Talbot is a breed of hunting dog, now extinct, that was white with long drooping ears—prized in medieval England for tracking game by scent.

The name survives primarily as a surname and given name, and in British heraldry where the talbot appears as a common charge on coats of arms.
