TEFL
Overseas English instruction
TEFL is an acronym for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, referring to instruction given to speakers of other languages in countries where English is not the primary language.
A TEFL certificate or qualification prepares instructors to teach English abroad, typically in classrooms rather than immersive environments.
She got her TEFL certification before moving to Spain to teach.
The field is closely related to TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and ESL (English as a Second Language).
