T-squares

Architect's drawing tools

A T-square is a drafting tool shaped like the letter T, with a long blade attached at right angles to a shorter crosspiece.

The crosspiece hooks over the edge of a drafting table, allowing the blade to slide up and down while staying perfectly horizontal.

Used for drawing parallel lines and as a guide for triangles and other tools: She lined up the T-square and drew a clean baseline.

Largely replaced by computer-aided design software.
