Sunset Boulevard
Famous Los Angeles street
Sunset Boulevard is a major thoroughfare running from downtown Los Angeles west to the Pacific Ocean, passing through Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
The name evokes the entertainment industry's glamour and excess.
It's also the title of Billy Wilder's 1950 film about a faded silent-film star, which gave the phrase associations of Hollywood decline and delusion: She's living in her own Sunset Boulevard fantasy.
