Stockdale

Stockdale is a surname of English origin.

James Stockdale (1923–2005) was a U.S.

Navy vice admiral and Medal of Honor recipient who endured seven years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

He became widely known as Ross Perot's running mate in 1992, remembered for his awkward debate opening: Who am I? Why am I here?

The Stockdale Paradox, derived from his survival philosophy, describes maintaining faith in eventual success while confronting brutal current realities.
