Shopgirl
Store's female employee
A shopgirl is a young woman who works as a sales assistant in a retail store.
The term is somewhat dated, evoking an earlier era when shop work was a common occupation for working-class women: She started as a shopgirl and worked her way up to manager.
It can carry condescending overtones when used today.
