SR-22

Proof of coverage

An SR-22 is a certificate of financial responsibility that some U.S. states require drivers to file after serious traffic violations—typically DUI convictions, driving without insurance, or multiple at-fault accidents.

It's not insurance itself but a form your insurance company files to prove you carry the required minimum coverage.

SR-22 requirements usually last several years and result in higher premiums: I had to get an SR-22 after my second DUI.
