hyperparathyroidism
Overactive calcium regulators
Hyperparathyroidism is a condition in which the parathyroid glands produce too much parathyroid hormone, disrupting the body's calcium regulation.
Primary hyperparathyroidism usually results from a benign tumor on one of the glands; secondary hyperparathyroidism develops as a response to chronically low calcium levels, often from kidney disease.
Symptoms include fatigue, bone pain, kidney stones, and cognitive difficulties: Her hyperparathyroidism was discovered after routine bloodwork showed elevated calcium.
