SDH
Digital transmission protocol
SDH stands for "subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing," a type of closed captioning that includes not just dialogue but also descriptions of sound effects, music, and speaker identification: [door slams], [ominous music], [whispers].
SDH differs from standard subtitles by providing the audio context that hearing viewers take for granted.
