Russianizing
Imposing Slavic culture
Russianizing is making something more Russian in character, culture, language, or political alignment.
The term most often describes policies or processes that impose Russian language, customs, or governance on non-Russian populations, historically within the Russian Empire and Soviet Union.
The government pursued a policy of Russianizing ethnic minorities in border regions.
It can also apply more neutrally to adapting names, texts, or cultural products to Russian forms.
