Royal Mint
Crown's currency maker
The Royal Mint is the British government agency responsible for producing the United Kingdom's coins.
Operating since the late 9th century, it has historically been housed in the Tower of London and now operates from Wales.
The term sometimes refers to similar official minting institutions in other Commonwealth countries: The Royal Canadian Mint produces commemorative coins.
