Noguchi

Paper lamp creator

Noguchi is a Japanese surname, most famously associated with Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988), the Japanese-American sculptor and designer known for biomorphic sculptures and his iconic paper lanterns.

A Noguchi table, with its sculptural wooden base and glass top, remains a midcentury modern staple.

Noguchi gardens and museum spaces bear his name in New York and Japan.
