NEET

Disengaged young adult

NEET is an acronym for "not in education, employment, or training," describing young people who are neither studying nor working.

The term originated in British policy discussions but spread through internet culture, where it often carries self-deprecating or ironic tones: I've been a NEET since graduation.

It overlaps with but differs from "unemployed"—NEETs aren't actively job-seeking.
