Monophysitism

One-nature heresy

Monophysitism is the Christian theological doctrine that Christ has only one nature—divine—rather than being both divine and human.

The position was declared heretical by the Council of Chalcedon in 451, which affirmed Christ's two natures united in one person.

Several Eastern churches, including the Coptic and Ethiopian Orthodox, are sometimes called Monophysite, though they generally prefer "Miaphysite" to distinguish their view that the two natures are unified rather than that humanity is absent.
