Midwestern plains
America's grain belt
The Midwestern plains are the vast, relatively flat grasslands stretching across the central United States—from Ohio westward through Kansas and the Dakotas.
This region, also called the Great Plains or prairie, is characterized by fertile soil, few trees, and agricultural dominance: They drove for hours across the Midwestern plains, nothing but wheat fields and sky.
