mid

Neither end nor beginning

Mid means in the middle of, typically modifying time periods or ranges: mid-January, mid-career, mid-century modern furniture.

It usually appears hyphenated before a noun.

Mid can also stand alone in informal speech to mean mediocre or unremarkable: The movie was mid—neither good nor bad, just average.

This newer slang sense, popular among younger speakers, dismisses something as thoroughly unimpressive.
