Meijer

Michigan grocery chain

Meijer is a regional American supermarket chain based in Michigan, operating large-format stores throughout the Midwest.

Founded by Hendrik Meijer in 1934, it pioneered the supercenter concept by combining groceries with general merchandise under one roof.

The name is Dutch and properly pronounced MY-er, though many customers say MEE-jer.

I need to stop at Meijer on the way home.
