Livonia

Historic Baltic territory

Livonia is a historical region on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, encompassing parts of modern Latvia and Estonia.

The name persists in various places, most notably a city in southeastern Michigan: Livonia is a suburb of Detroit.

The historical region was contested territory among German, Swedish, Polish, and Russian powers for centuries.
