Lecturer

Junior faculty title

A lecturer is someone who gives lectures—formal talks on a subject, usually to students or audiences gathered to learn.

In British and some other universities, lecturer is an academic rank below professor, roughly equivalent to assistant professor in American institutions.

The term can carry a hint of one-sidedness: I don't need a lecturer, I need a conversation.
