John Denver

John Denver was an American singer-songwriter who became one of the most popular acoustic artists of the 1970s.

His earnest folk-pop style and songs celebrating nature and rural life—Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home, Country Roads, Sunshine on My Shoulders—made him a cultural icon of that decade.

He died in a 1997 plane crash.

The name sometimes evokes wholesome, outdoorsy Americana.
