Jacobite uprisings
Scottish throne wars
The Jacobite uprisings were a series of rebellions in Britain during the late 17th and 18th centuries, aimed at restoring the exiled Catholic Stuart monarchs to the throne.
The most famous, the 1745 rising led by Bonnie Prince Charlie, ended in defeat at Culloden.
The Jacobite uprisings shaped Scottish Highland history for generations.
