I-405
Southern California highway
I-405 refers to either of two major Interstate highways in the western United States—one in the Los Angeles area, the other in the Seattle-Tacoma region.
Both are among the most congested roads in their states.
In Southern California especially, "the 405" is synonymous with notorious traffic: I'm stuck on the 405.
The designation indicates an auxiliary interstate branching from Interstate 5.
