Hanukkah candles
Festival of Lights
Hanukkah candles are the candles lit during the eight-night Jewish festival of Hanukkah, placed in a special candelabrum called a menorah or hanukkiah.
One candle is added each night, progressing from one to eight, plus a helper candle (the shamash) used to light the others.
The candles commemorate the miracle of temple oil lasting eight days.
We need to buy more Hanukkah candles before sundown.
