Hallyu

Seoul's cultural export

Hallyu is the Korean word for the wave of South Korean pop culture that has spread globally since the late 1990s.

It encompasses K-pop music, Korean dramas, films, fashion, beauty products, and cuisine.

The term literally means "Korean wave" and describes both the cultural exports themselves and the international fandom surrounding them: Hallyu has made Korean skincare products hugely popular worldwide.
