Greasers

Fifties leather rebels

Greasers were young working-class men of the 1950s and early 1960s, named for the pomade they used to slick back their hair.

The style—leather jackets, white T-shirts, jeans, motorcycles—represented rebellious youth culture before it gave way to hippies.

He dressed like a greaser for the costume party.

The term also appears as an ethnic slur against Mexicans and other Latinos, based on the stereotype of oily skin or greasy food.
