magnetometry
Measuring magnetic fields
Magnetometry is the measurement of magnetic fields, especially the Earth's magnetic field or the magnetic properties of materials.
The technique has applications in geology, archaeology, and medicine: Magnetometry revealed buried structures at the archaeological site.
A magnetometer is the instrument used.
