Falun Gong

Banned Chinese practice

Falun Gong is a Chinese spiritual movement combining meditation, exercises, and moral teachings rooted in Buddhist and Taoist traditions.

Founded in 1992 by Li Hongzhi, it attracted millions of practitioners before the Chinese government banned it in 1999, labeling it a dangerous cult.

The movement has since operated from exile, opposing Chinese Communist Party rule.

Also called Falun Dafa.
