Conestoga

Covered pioneer wagon

A Conestoga wagon was a heavy covered wagon used in 18th- and 19th-century America to haul freight and settlers westward.

Named for the Conestoga Valley in Pennsylvania where they originated, these broad-wheeled wagons with their distinctive curved beds and canvas tops became icons of American expansion.

The pioneers loaded their Conestoga and headed for Oregon.
