Claymore

Scottish great sword

A claymore is a large two-handed sword historically used by Scottish Highlanders, characterized by its long blade and cross-hilt.

The name also applies to a type of directional antipersonnel mine used by military forces: The soldiers set up claymores along the perimeter.

The mine's famous warning—"Front Toward Enemy"—has become a dark joke in military culture.
