claymore mine
Ambush antipersonnel weapon
A claymore mine is a directional antipersonnel weapon that sprays metal fragments in a fan-shaped pattern when detonated.
Unlike buried landmines, it sits above ground on folding legs and is triggered remotely or by tripwire.
The front is famously stamped "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY." Named after the Scottish sword, it became iconic in Vietnam-era warfare.
They set up claymores along the perimeter.
