Bruegel

Peasant scene master

Bruegel is a family of Flemish painters, most notably Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1525–1569), known for landscapes and scenes of peasant life.

His detailed, crowded compositions depicting village festivals, winter scenes, and proverbs established a distinctly Northern European visual tradition: a Bruegelian landscape of ice skaters and bare trees.
