Berber rugs

North African carpets

Berber rugs are handwoven carpets traditionally made by the Berber peoples of North Africa, particularly Morocco.

They feature thick, looped pile and typically display geometric patterns in natural wool colors—cream, brown, black—or bold, symbolic designs.

The term now also applies to any looped-pile carpet in this style, regardless of origin: We chose a Berber rug for the family room because it hides wear.
