BellSouth

Regional phone company

BellSouth was a telecommunications company serving the southeastern United States, one of the seven regional Bell operating companies created when AT&T was broken up in 1984.

It provided local telephone service across nine states until AT&T acquired it in 2006.

The name persists in some branding and older references: My parents still had a BellSouth landline.
