Beer-Lambert law

Light absorption relationship

The Beer-Lambert law describes how light intensity decreases as it passes through a material that absorbs it.

The absorbance is proportional to both the concentration of the absorbing substance and the path length the light travels.

It's fundamental in spectroscopy for determining concentrations of solutions: Using the Beer-Lambert law, we calculated the protein concentration from the absorbance reading.
