molar absorptivity
Light absorption constant
Molar absorptivity is a measure of how strongly a chemical substance absorbs light at a particular wavelength.
It quantifies the ability of one mole of a substance dissolved in one liter of solution to absorb light over a path length of one centimeter.
The value is constant for a given substance under specific conditions, making it useful for identifying compounds and determining concentrations in spectroscopy.
Also called molar extinction coefficient.
