Components needed roster
BOM stands for bill of materials—a comprehensive list of components, parts, and quantities needed to manufacture a product.
Engineers and manufacturers use BOMs to track everything from raw materials to subassemblies: The BOM for the prototype included over two hundred parts.
In computing, BOM also refers to byte order mark, a special character at the beginning of a text file indicating its encoding format. (Lowercase bom is informal or onomatopoeic.)
